Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label released her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it with Rihanna. On December 8 it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. She also appeared in two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Then on the 9th of November, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13 she then released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It was then released as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019 her music video to the track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
